Public Open Skating Sessions
Public Open Skating sessions are also available to all Ice Club Members. Public open skating Sessions normally take place on the weekends and are a family friendly activity and open to all levels of skaters, including beginners and those who have never skated. 

  • No sticks or pucks are allowed.
  • Skate rentals are available.
  • Skating aids are avaialble for young new skaters.
  • No high speed skating, tag, or other acts that put beginner skaters at risk of injury is allowed. 
  • Skaters deemed to be inconsiderate of others will be asked to leave without notice or refund.

Public Open Stick & Puck Sessions
Stick and Puck Sessions also known as developmental or skills training ice is for hockey players to work on individaul skills such as shooting, passing, and skating in small areas of the ice. 

  • Full protective equipment is required for youth players. Helmets, skates, shin pads, & gloves are required for high school and adults. Full protective equipment is recommended for all. 
  • Attendance may be limited to 35 skaters. All skaters of all types must pay.
  • Small area and cross ice games allowed are allowed as long as attendance is minimal and all no groups are encroached upon.
  • During all age sessions the ice may be split into three age zones for safety.
  • No organized team or coach lead practices or training is allowed.
  • No full ice games are allowed unless the session is age specific and all skaters agree and are included equally.
  • Professional Instructors and Lessons are not allowed.
    Due to demand and growth we are no longer able to accomodate private instructors and lessons.
  • Schedules are subject to last minute changes - Always check online schedles before heading to the rink.
     

    Public Open Pickup Hockey Sessions
    Public Open Pickup Hockey Sessions also known as shinny hockey, pond hockey,  and rink rat hockey,  is similar to the drop in hockey played and neighborhood parks and rinks. They are open to the public for a fee and generally range from small to large scrimmages depending on attendance.   

  • Must bring your own sticks and pucks.
  • Full protective equipment is required for youth & high school players.
  • Helmets, skates, shin pads, & gloves are required for adults. full protective equipment is recommended.
  • No checking, aggressive contact, or fighting is tolerated.
  • No slap shots allowed or other dangerous acts allowed.
  • Full, Half, or cross ice games allowed.
  • All attendees must rotate and be provided equal time.
  • Goalies are Free and must rotate equally.
  • Schedules subject to last minute changes - Always check online schedules before heading to the rink.

Dead Ice for Drop In Public Activities
Dead ice is any unsold ice time for sale, which can be converted to a public open activity such as pickup hockey and stick and puck. The ice may be converted up to 24 hours in advance provided that is does not require staff to stay late or come in early.  Once converted it is available to all public users. please mail info@lakevillearenas to have avaiable for sale converted to a public open activity.
